National Bank of Pakistan & JazzCash to Facilitate with Driving License Fee Payments

Karachi – 22 June, 2017: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) along with its strategic partner JazzCash, have introduced digital payment collection facility for driving license fees across Sindh, by partnering with Traffic and Licensing Department of Sindh Police. New drivers applying for their driving licenses in Sindh will pay their fees through a completely new channel built, where JazzCash would the front channel to interface with customer and NBP will settle the funds.

A grand signing ceremony took place at the newly renovated Saleem Vahidy Auditorium of Sindh Driving License Office in Karachi. Mr. Allah Dino Khawaja, IG Sindh Police, Mr. Saeed Ahmad, President – NBP, Mr. Faisal Sattar – Head of Business Services Division, Jazzcash were present on the occasion along with other senior officials including Mr. Nausherwan Aadil – SEVP/Group Chief CRBG, Mr. Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh – DIG Sindh Driving License, Mr. Shahid Saeed – SEVP/CIO NBP and Mr. Azfar Jamal EVP/Head – Payment Services NBP.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Saeed Ahmed said “This service offers simplification of work, which leads to time saving, and minimizes book entry errors as everything will be done digitally. Leveraging the bank’s financial expertise coupled with the strength of JazzCash’s extensive network, we are continuously striving to provide digital solutions to the financial needs of our customer.”

“This solution has been designed to facilitate drivers across Sindh, so they no longer have to stand in long queues to pay license fees as per the previous arrangement at the Pakistan Post counters. Convenience has become a necessity in this digital era, and JazzCash along with its strategic partner – NBP, is taking the lead in ensuring not only our customers, but the entire nation experiences the ease technology offers,” said Faisal Sattar.

The solution will also revamp the driving fee financial reporting and reconciliation mechanism at NBP. This service has been directly integrated with Sindh Police’s system & the representative at the counter will use JazzCash’s digital solutions to make the payment.

NBP and Jazzcash partnered together in 2015, creating a financial service ecosystem of 1450+ bank branches, 1300+ ATMs and over 70,000 Jazzcash retail outlets across Pakistan. This unique combination of strengths of both organizations creates a vast suite of financial services of both branches as well as branchless banking services.

JazzCash to Disburse Stipends to Female Students of government schools across Sindh

Islamabad/Karachi – May 10, 2017: The Reform Support Unit (RSU), School Education Department, Government of Sindh have a mandate to disburse stipends to female students of Sind. A signing ceremony was held at a local Hotel in Karachi today to award the contract for disbursement of these bursaries to JAZZ CASH. Payments will be made in two streams of Rs. 3,500 and Rs. 2,500 in 45 Talukas and 76 Talukas respectively where the transition rate is low.

Speaking on the occasion His Excellency Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, the Honourable Minister of Education Sindh said “This initiative is reflective of the Government of Sindh’s commitment to increase the enrollment of girls in schools at the Secondary level. Investing in girls’ education is a strategic development priority as it pays huge dividends for a society. It was Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s dream that all girls should be educated, and we are working to realize it”

On this occasion, Secretary School Education Abdul Aziz Uqaili said that timely delivery was critical to girls’ stipend disbursement. The Government of Sind was aware of this and has been making disbursements through ATM cards, pin mailers and SMS. “This year we are going a step further and will disburse the stipends through JAZZCASH biometric verification to ensure it reaches the right family.”

Chief Program Manager of RSU, Faisal Ahmed Uqaili said “Approximately 300,000 girls’ students receive stipends annually after the data received from the school principals is scrutinized and verified independently to ensure transparency.

JazzCash and Women’s World Banking announce partnership to serve low-income women in Pakistan

Islamabad, 4 April, 2017: JazzCash, Pakistan’s premiere financial services provider and global nonprofit Women’s World Banking today announce a partnership to promote women’s financial inclusion across Pakistan. With funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the partners will work to increase low-income women’s adoption and use of digital financial services, particularly the JazzCash mobile account.

Commenting on this partnership, Aniqa Afzal Sandhu, Chief Digital and Financial Services Officer of Jazz, said, “We are delighted to partner with Women’s World Banking, as they have done pioneering work on empowering women financially in other markets. We look forward to the research findings as they will enable JazzCash to increase financial inclusion of the marginalized and disenfranchised women across Pakistan.”

The results will have a global impact as well, not only building understanding of how digital financial services work for low-income women in Pakistan, but also informing similar initiatives to reach unbanked women regionally and globally.

JazzCash doubles its Active Mobile Accounts to 2 Million

Islamabad – 22 March, 2017: JazzCash has announced that its monthly active mobile account customers have crossed the 2 million mark. The mobile financial service provider has been able to add another million active mobile accounts in just the space of six months.

WorldRemit partners with JazzCash Mobile Money for money transfers to Pakistan

Islamabad, 22 February 2017: JazzCash, Pakistan’s fastest growing Mobile Financial Service and Digital money transfer service WorldRemit have announced a partnership for instant mobile remittances to Pakistan for over 9 million Pakistani expatriates currently living abroad.
