KARACHI: Matloob Ahmed is perhaps in the best form of his life but the Lahore professional is confident that he can do even better after triumphing in the Chevron-DHA Karachi Cup All Pakistan Open Golf Championship here recently at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club.
Matloob, who has been in terrific form since the start of this year, was in full flow as he won the Chevron-DHA Open by four strokes ahead of Pakistan No. 1 Shabbir Iqbal.
“I’m in great form and hope that with more hard work I will continue doing well on the national circuit,” Matloob said.
Matloob’s sights are now firmly set on the US$300,000 CNS Open – an Asian Tour tournament – which will be played in Karachi in July this year.
“It’s the biggest event to be held in Pakistan in more than ten years and I will try to give my best in it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s rising youngster Ahmed Baig won the amateur title in the DHA-Chenvron Open and then vowed to win more laurels in the future.
“I’m gaining confidence after every tournament and hopefully I will do even better in the coming events,” he said.
Almost all of Pakistan’s top players featured in the prestigious tournament which carried at stake a total prize purse of Rs3.5 million. The tournament was played from May 10-13 with the main professional event taking place over 54 holes.
Top professionals and amateurs from all over the country were part of the stellar cast of the tournament sponsored by Chevron Pakistan Lubricants (Private) Limited, a manufacturer and distributor of premium lubricants in Pakistan. This tournament is a unique yearly event of Pakistan Golf Federation calendar, which is counted among the most prestigious golf events in Pakistan. More than 200 golfers featured in the tournament including leading professionals and amateurs of the country. Other events which were played during the tournament included Senior Professionals, Seniors, Veterans, Ladies, Juniors and Masters.

Rana Fawad, the chairman of PSL team Lahore Qalandars, was conferred with “Pride of Lahore Achievement” award by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Sunday.
A ceremony was held in Lahore to present the award to Rana Fawad. Prime Minister Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi presented him the medal and a glittering emblem of Minar-e-Pakistan.
An earlier letter from Secretary General of LCCI, addressed to Mr Rana Fawad, had stated that “this is a sign of your commitment towards the development of the nation.”
Mr Fawad is expected to talk to the media on Monday.

Recently we had visited an event happened from 24 to 26 April at Global Marquees Karachi. In Karachi every day there are several events of various sorts but rather few are such that cater to women exclusively, one such event was Beauty & You. Arranged by Cool and Cool, a major player in cosmetics and personal care sector. this was the first ever beauty expo, first of its kind in Pakistan.
Beauty and You showcased many brands, such as Cool and Cool, Shower Scents, Jennifer’s, Make-Up City and Hemani. Also present were famous salon brands such as Mussarat Misbah and Nadia Hussain.

[Karachi, Wednesday 28th March 2018]: Pakistan International Film Festival (PiFF) reveals the lineup for the festival scheduled to take place in Karachi from the 29th of March to 1st of April 2018. The four-day festival will feature prominent filmmakers from different countries including India, Italy, Germany, Nepal and US to name a few.
The festival will screen different categories of films ranging from documentaries, short films and feature films submitted from 93 countries across the globe. For the entire festival, a total of 210 films have been selected from the categories of documentaries, short films and feature-length films. Detailed events information pertaining to the Pakistan International Film Festival was shared during a press conference held at Pearl Continental Karachi, organised by Karachi Film Society.
The press conference was attended by esteemed members of the press and, ‘The Spirit of Kolachi’ – a handcrafted trophy designed by renowned sculpture and painter Mr Abdul Jabbar Gull was also unveiled at the event.
This festival comprises panel discussions on the subjects of ‘Film Diplomacy & Cross-Border Collaboration’, ‘Innovation on Screen: Digital Dimensions’, ‘Genre Busters’, ‘From Script to Screen and Beyond’, ‘Films for Change: Socially Motivated content in South Asian Film Industry’ and ‘The Future of Music and Lyrics: How important is music in the subcontinental cinema’.

A special matinee show of the newly released animated movie Tick Tock will also be arranged for children at Nueplex Cinemas. Apart from the premieres, screenings of short films, documentaries and feature films are organised at various institutes throughout the city including Goethe Institut, Iqra Defence Valley, Iqra University North Nazimabad campus, Alliance Françoise and T2F.

[Karachi – March 19, 2018] One of the country’s most admired food brands, Peek Freans conducted a first-of-its-kind on ground three days activation campaign at Dolmen Mall in Karachi in order to launch their newest addition in the family called “Peek Freans Cake Up,” which comprises of a range of center-filled cupcakes. The consumers walking into the mall were bemused by the giant tunnel-like-structure that had propped up overnight atop the main escalator of the malls’ atrium, taking one on a 23-second journey through the world of Cake Up. Upon exiting the visitors received a free Peek Freans Cake Up to try out the delectable difference. In this way all of their senses of sight, sound, taste and touch were activated at the same time – a process referred to as sensory marketing.

Saturday 17th March, 2018: The Karachi Kings have truly become a force to reckon with. Defying all odds, the team shows more zeal and vigor to win, fighting till the last ball as the series progresses. Without a doubt, the addition of Shahid Afridi and captain ship of Imad Wasim has had a positive impact.

With some of the most memorable performances, the team made strides in all areas of the game. Afridi had outstanding stats in nearly every match. The batting lineup has been impressive, heavy hitters Colin Ingram, Ravi Bopara, Joe Denly, Shahid Afridi and Babar Azam ranked at the top of the list. The team also scored the highest total in the series. With electrifying fielding, Afridi, Denly and Imad taking close to impossible catches. Imad’s catch resulted in an injury taking him out of the game for a few matches, he is replaced by Eoin Morgan as captain for the time being. The match ended with a nail-biting finish in the climactic super over. Despite a few losses the Karachi Kings roared back, clenching the second position in the rankings. The support for Karachi Kings has been tremendous throughout, the fans along with superstars and celebrities of the industry fueled the team every step of the way. The Kings will face Islamabad in the qualifier match on 18th of March. International players Joe Denly, Colin Ingram, Ravi Bopara, Lendl Simmons, Tymal Mills and David Wiese are ready to travel to Pakistan to compete in the final spell of matches.
