SIR KALAM successful run on May 1st in Karachi
[Karachi, 02nd May 2017]: After a successful run in Islamabad, The Insane Productions performed SIR KALAM in Karachi, a dark comedy theater play by Saiban Khaliq, produced by ISPR at the Karachi Arts Council, on May 1st.
Top celebrities and socialites were present at the red carpet event, some of whom included renowned actors and models included Ahad Raza Mir, Asif Raza Mir, Muzna Ebarhim, Syed Tipu Sharif, Danish Nawaz,Naeem Haque, Hania Aamir, Kasim Khan just to name a few.
The play stars Shamayale Khattak, Aymen Shuja Zuberi, Sardar Osman, Zainab Raja, Tayyab Anwar, Sarmad Bashir, Saiban Khaliq and Wasiq Ali Zia. A famous playwright, Mansoor Kalam, shares the secret “formula” of becoming a successful playwright in Pakistan. He shares this “formula” by giving examples of 3 of his award winning screenplays. While he shares this technique, he is confronted by an obsessed fan who makes Mansoor Kalam wonder; “Can a story, change someone’s life?” This is a story of a commercial playwright who writes meaningless and overly glamorized stories that only serve the purpose of making money.
Khaliq has taken his theatre plays across the nation on multiple occasions. Having previously written and directed 9 theatre plays, he now brings ‘Sir Kalam’ to the Karachi Arts council. The play will continue till the 10th of May.

The ARY Film Festival 2017 begin from May, 4
Karachi – 27th April 2017: The ARY Digital Network will be playing host to a much awaited and highly anticipated event, The ARY Film Festival (AFF). A unique event that not only promotes filmmakers in Pakistan, but introduces talent from different parts of the world to this region.
The ARY Film Festival (AFF) will officially commence following a press conference on the 3rd of May. Screening of selected entries will begin from the 4th and will continue till the 6th of May at Cinepax, Ocean Mall, Karachi. During the course of the festival a seminar and panel discussion will also be held, highlighting the factors affecting the success of films and cinema in Pakistan. The festival will be concluded at with grand event featuring musical performances and award ceremony for winning entries.
The official jury for the festival includes:

Microsoft & HEC bring the ‘Imagine Cup’ to Pakistani youth
Islamabad: 26th April 2017 – Microsoft and Higher Education Commission (HEC) collaborated to bring Microsoft‟s Imagine Cup to Pakistan. It is the world‟s most renowned technology competition for students. Started in 2003, Microsoft‟s Imagine Cup is the ideal opportunity for the youthful innovators, from around the world, to give express their imagination, bring ideas to life and win $100,000.

Imagine Cup is held annually by Microsoft Corp., bringing together the young technologists to play their part in resolving some of the world’s toughest challenges. Not only a competition, imagine cup serves as a platform for teams to present their solutions to the world. All technology projects are welcome in this competition; it is no longer bound by categories.
HEC‟s commitment to the academia and students is reflected as Microsoft drives the Imagine Cup to highlighted Pakistan‟s position on the leaderboards – Pakistan ranks as the TOP country in the Middle East and Africa cluster, with the highest number of project submissions and competitors in Imagine Cup. Pakistan also ranks 5th worldwide, in the same category.
In Pakistan, students from various universities participated enthusiastically, as the competition received an overwhelming response. A lot of remote and underprivileged areas were targeted in the drive for Imagine Cup, particularly Sahiwal, Mianwali, Khuzdar and Jamshoro. Students were initially evaluated in Regional finals, held in different cities and the best teams competed to win the National Finals. The evaluations for both Regional and National Finals were done according to the rules, regulations and criteria listed in 2017 Imagine Cup Competition.
The winning team of the Imagine Cup National Final from Pakistan was „Positive Zero‟ from Bahria University, Karachi. The victory was announced during a grand ceremony. The team has built a Microsoft Azure cognitive service-based engine that helps in writing code through voice commands. The team will represent Pakistan in the advanced stages of the competition on a global scale.
The Director of Microsoft‟s Enterprise & Partner Group Segment – Mr. Abid Zaidi commented on the occasion; “The link between education, attainment and economic growth has never been clearer. Around the world, the communities where educational excellence is a high priority create the most economic opportunities. The foundation for sustainable economic growth for the future is being laid, through this initiative.”

Standard Chartered exceeds one year target for Goal beneficiaries in Pakistan
Standard Chartered celebrates one year of Goal in PakistanKarachi (April 20, 2017) : Goal is Standard Chartered’s leading education programme that provides financial literacy, life skills and employability training to low-income adolescent girls across its footprint.
Since the launch of the programme in April 2016, the Bank has reached a total of 2447 beneficiaries, exceeding the planned target of 1,765 girls across seven schools in Lyari. These include 1587 full Goal participants, 54 leaders and over 800 girls from the community. The programme aims to reach an additional 2500 girls this year.
Through a combination of sports and life skills training, Goal aims to empower and equip adolescent girls with the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to become integral economic leaders in their families, communities and societies.
Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Shazad Dada, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Pakistan said, “We launched Goal in April 2016, with an aim to address issues affecting adolescent girls in Pakistan through sport-based leadership skills.
